True North is not a destination, but an internal point of reference that guides us toward what feels essential, authentic, and worth pursuing artistically.

A Shared Purpose

Our Story
Founded in 2019, True North Photo Society (TNPS) is a collective of professional women fine art photographers brought together by a shared commitment to creativity, exploration, and artistic growth.
Our members work across a diverse range of photographic practices, from digital and analog photography to alternative and experimental processes including cyanotype, lumen, Van Dyke, salt printing, platinum palladium, mixed media, and image transfers. This diversity of practice allows each artist to pursue her own ideas, interests, and individual creative voice.
True North meets regularly for portfolio critiques, exhibition planning, and hands-on Creation Days devoted to learning and skill-sharing. We explore photographic processes, printing and presentation, visit museums and galleries, attend lectures, and venture into the field to create new work.
Since its founding, True North has grown through exhibitions, collaborative projects, educational opportunities, and community engagement throughout Southern California. At its heart is a supportive community of women artists who challenge, encourage, and inspire one another while continuing to evolve individually and collectively.
