Susan Hill is a California-based photographer and visual artist. Hill grew up in a home where art, music, and books were constant companions. It is there her creative sensibility quietly took root. Hill began exploring time when she noticed how its energy flows through our lives and the impermanence that shapes our experiences. We feel it in the weight of memory, in emotion, and in the quiet moment after something has changed.Working with objects and spaces, Hill considers how light, form, and stillness draw her subjects from shadow, revealing subtle tensions between presence and disappearance. She views time not as a measurable quantity, but as a lived experience; a dynamic force that accumulates, dissolves, and bends within the body and space. Her work extends beyond photography into sculptural wire forms, installations, and short films, carrying her inquiry into space, movement, and duration. Across these forms, she explores the shifting nature of time, memory, presence, and impermanence.Hill works with an array of cameras and films to create her photographs. With an ongoing love for darkroom work, exploring alternative photographic processes is a natural extension of her material inquiry. She has served as a juror, curator, panelist, and speaker on photographic practices throughout Southern California. She serves as an Industry Advisor for Escondido Union High School. Her work has been exhibited nationwide and is held in corporate and private collections. Archival negatives of her architectural work are housed at the Smithsonian Institution.

within the flow of time and space.”
